So how to start a mailing list for free? I tried Mail Chimps free version mailing list but didn’t like the fact that during the sign up process it showed my registered address to every one. I tried using List Power to manage my mailing list but the codes for the sign up form didn’t work. Finally I settled for the free Bravenet mailing list.
First, setup a free gmail account. Register with Bravenet with this email as it will be the ‘reply to’ email in your mailing list. The Bravenet mailing list management is really straight forward and great for people who are starting a mailing list for the first time. Of course they have a affiliate program, which you should sign up for too. Just register including your website or affiliate link then log in. Go to the mailing list manager and click on ‘general settings’. Here you can add a reply name and any redirect urls, or just leave all the url fields blank to use the web page you registered with.
Next click on ‘email notifications’. Here you can personalise your opt in, welcome and unsubscribe pages. Finally add the html code to your splashpage. Ok, that’s it! Time to promote!
